Foundation of St. Hugh of Witham & Lincoln

St Hugh was a Carthusian monk and Bishop.

St. Hugh's House is an Anglican Religious House based in Kington and is a 'New Expression of the Religious Life'. We are a husband and wife living under the Benedictine Vows of Stability, Conversion and Obedience which were received by Bishop Anthony Priddis in the Parish Church of St. Thomas à Becket, Huntington.

Influence of Carthusian simplicity, inner silence and solitude is incorporated into the Daily Offices and Prayers and through practical work, study and spiritual reading.

The Foundation of St. Hugh's is a sacred resource for prayer and reflection which underpins our endeavours to dovetail spirituality and sustainability. The Vows give us support and guidance at all times, including in worship, growing crops, or managing the small woodland. It is also a place in which others may explore and nurture vocation to the religious life.

To experience the daily routine at St. Hugh's, individuals may spend time with us. We also offer the opportunity for refreshment, meditation and retreat. Overnight accommodation can be provided.
